Re: wantin a portrait tattoo
With the AON artists, you can pretty much draw a name out of hat and still have the best portrait in the state...Well, that really isn't saying much since we are in GA. Still, though. Go through the portfolios, narrow it down to a few you like best, then go into the shop and meet them. See which one you feel the most comfortable with.

Re: wantin a portrait tattoo
Not a knock on AON, but why not look for an artist/shop that specializes in portraits/realism? AON has their own style which is f@#king dope!!! But they're not really a b&G, realism type shop. It's like asking Ferrari to build you a Mercedes, if that makes sense? You'll get a great tattoo, for sure, but you might do better elsewhere for that particular style? I wouldn't ask Bob Tyrrell for a Japanese sleeve, and I wouldn't ask Filip Leu for a portrait. Just my two cents, and again that's no knock on AON.
That being said, I think Jace might be your best bet? Perhaps Short? I'm not really sure if anyone there markets himself as a portrait artist?

Yeah, don't know what I was thinking. I'm on an AON message board for crying out loud! Jace has done some incredible B&G work, I'm sure you'll be quite happy with what he does.

Re: wantin a portrait tattoo
I got the Dalai Llama tattoo from Jace in B&G and it didn't disappoint. He really enjoys doing those types of tattoos so I think you made a great decision.

Yeah I think that Jace would meet your expectations and surpass them. Any of the artists can do what you are looking for. They are a well diverse set of Artists. If you look at their porfolios, they are all doing different styles now.

Good luck with your portrait!
I want some ink from Jace, too.

Re: wantin a portrait tattoo
I'm taking my brother to look at Jace's portfolio when I go to start my sleeve. He's looking to get a B&G portrait as well.
