Would you feel safe living in New Orleans?
Here's a pretty interesting map of the area. I didn't realize how low it actually was in relation to sea level.

Nope.
I always said people were flat out crazy for living in that area....no way would I live in an area that depends on man made structures (like dams) to keep it from being swallowed up by the ocean. And of course people are moving BACK there....sigh....

I used to live there and I miss it horribly but yeah its a bad piece of land huh???

I have *always* wanted to visit the Big Easy....but building a home there...maybe if it was on 300 foot stilts....

I've a few different friends that are both from New Orleans. They are from around the Kenner/Meterarie Area. They are both crazy as bat s&!t, and love that town. I've visited that town on many occasions and love it for it's charm. I would never want to live there, it is a rough town. Bars with no doors on them is a temptation that many succumb to in that town.

I would buy a big boat if I lived thier. If it were to flood like last time you can float out hopefully ? I would love to visit but the plane ride is to long for me.

Yes Id live there for a few months out of the year... I had a blast the first and only time i was there... So what if its at sea level....or below it.... The town I grew up in, in FL was at or below sea level...
