I find 5mag will do the job much more consistent and faster.

if I have an area small enough that requires something as small as a 5 mag, I'll just use my liner.....

I can't stand mags smaller than 9s because I don;t really pay attention to the angle i m using them and i f@#k the skin up.

Maybe I am lazy, but it works out pretty good. At least for my likings.

I agree man 9 mags and up, for color/shading etc.
I use tight 9 liners to do small cursive names, and color em in between the lines also.

It depends on the case, sometimes when the situation calls for it I have to break down and use a 5 mag, but I dont like em , nor 7 mags.

9 mags and up , but no bigger than a 15 mag, usually for packing black in a big tribal in a timely manner.

I cant even remember when I used anything smaller then a 9 mag.
I'm with aivanne,..if it small enough for a 5 mag then I would just use my liner.

I would have thought that using mags and the knowledge about them would be known by all professional tattooers.

everybody tattoos differently, and uses their tools in a different manner, i have seen people line with mags. idk, that statement just seems ignorant, if every professional knew everything there is to know about everything, then why the f@#k would we be here discussing tattoo related topics?

as your first comment was:
"Well I guess we're not as smart or as talented as you!!!"

Well tom maybe not.
I never said I was smarter or better than anyone else.
However the comment I did say is right there for all to read.

And are you seriously sayin that a professional tattooer would not know about mags???
you said it yourself you have seen people line with them (I know aitchison does)
so being a "pro" would it not be safe to think this person would know what the common tools for there trade are?

I made had a post awhile back, a apology thread to nicole and even there you had some smart stuff to say,
is it just you or the way you come off?

It is just my opinion but if your tattooing and do not know how mags work then...
maybe you should ask your mentor, or some of the other people working in the shop

this is just my opinion we are all entitled I suppose
