Default Collaboration Pricing?

I was just rereading the pricing on collaborative tattoo's.

It states "Although clients will pay both artistsí fees, it will be done in half the time, so ultimately it will be done for about the same price as a single artist doing the same piece."

It made sense to me the first few times I read it, now I've confused myself. I can't imagine both artists are working on the client at the same time the whole length? are they?

Does this mean you would pay the cost of artist 1 + artist 2 for the full time of the tattoo session? Or are you paying for cost of time artist 1 works + cost of time artist 2 works?

So say you had 2 artists that were 150 an hour each and the piece was 30 hours...which would be a closer estimate to how much this would cost?

1. 300*30=9000
2. 2250+2250=4500

i think a better pricing style would be a standard set-up fee, and a reduced hourly rate. maybe 100/hour per artist. Not sure how those crackaz roll tho.

You pay each artist for the time they work..... And yes both can work at the same time. I've had 2 artist on my back at once. Mostly it has been one at a time because of the way styles are mixed and the design. I guess it would depend on what your having done and where it is.

That's my experience anyway.

Yeah, you are only paying for the time that each artist is putting ink to skin. If one takes a break and the other keeps working, you are only paying for the one working. Depending on the size of the piece, two of them can be working at the same time.

Awesome, just what I needed to hear. I'll be getting a right arm sleeve collab soon and had confused myself a bit as to how the pricing went. I imagine they would do a little here and a little there at the same time. Hopefully Ill be getting it done in a trip session. Im all hyped up with anticipation
