Re: Just Cause YOu Tattoo Doesn't Mean You Have To Look Like It..., Does It?
I run my own studio and have no visible Tattoo's (previous work as an illustrator working for prestigious clients wouldn't allow it, being a starving illustrator was hard enough without the stigma associated with Tattoos back then)...
However !! I've decided on getting some work done at All or Nothing in the next year or so, and I'm gonna' have to fly across the Atlantic just to get it ... then my clients can look at the best work available and think i'm an even better artist because of it !!. If i'd been Tattoo'd when I was younger i'd just be covered in stupid biker s&!t by now.

If the person is tattooing and they have none themselves it would be tough for me to believe they've put their time in at a shop or in the business

Tattooed artists means dedication to me especially if they're covered, not knocking the great artists out there without them, but just like all the other comparisons, I wouldn't go to learn oils from a person that hasn't painted or has no artistic ability, Or go out to eat eat and the chef isn't fat,, Or get my house worked by a guy in a business suit........ /////Cheerz

Hey! I'm an amazing cook, as is my wife. We're both thin. We can't help that we were blessed with great metabolisms.

Kinda torn on this one. A great surgeon hasn't necessarily had surgery. If your a girl and go to a beauty shop who does your hair???? Beautician with great hair or the one with not so good hair. Did they do each others???
On the other hand I want the person doing my tattoo to know what I'm feeling. Really though it comes back to portfolios for me.

That last statement is the kicker. If you don't have any tattoos, then you don't know what it feels like. If you don't know what it feels like, you are less likely to know the right depth.
Earlier in this thread, someone mentioned a great artist that had no tattoos, and how many people complained that he had a heavy hand. No one ever talked negative about his work, just that his hand was heavy.

When I walk into a barber shop, I look for the bald headed man. Because he doesn't trust anyone else to do his hair! ha ha.
I don't really have the tatoo artist "look". I have been described as the "Ned Flanders" of All or Nothing. True, I am blessed with many great tattoos adorning my body, but 90% of them are always covered.
But if I like the BBQ I don't care if the cook is skinny. My clients tend to agree.

I'm a skinny guy that does awesome BBQ
First time I met you you were wearing a "bowling" style shirt eaten lunch on the couch across from me. I remember it well because it was my first visit and I had no clue who you were. While Tony was working on me I mentioned that I'd talked to this really cool dude while he was setting up, you walked by and I pointed you out. He told me who you were.
Waitin to here from Tony and Jace to finish up my back. When I come back I'll bring the Q.
