genral color question
o.k. For the examples I'm going to use colored pencil as the medium and a red sphere as the subject. Now the question, for the shading(i know about compliments) do I use black/darker red or green,? I don't know when to use what, in my mind I think I have use 37 colors(not really but you get the idea). So I guess i'm wanting to know if there is any theorys or laws when it comes to stuff like that. like i said I'm familar with compliments but I see people do diffrent things and dont know why.

Re: genral color question
personnally i think that it depend on what your trying to achieve, brown works wonderfully to blend into the darker red to red to oranges to yellows. thats just me though. i believe purple and black are popular as well. this probably isnt going to be much help but f@#k it i tried. just use your gut and what loooks right to you.

Re: genral color question
i have found in this situation...depending on the style of it, use the darker to lighter...but think outside the box, try different light sources and under glows i think you will find some neat effects by utilizing off the wall colors, ie seafoam green, or even a bright purple.

Re: genral color question
what color is your light source ? A photo taken in the woods will have a natural green hue to it, a photo on the beach will have a warmer natural hue to it......
A cherry won't have the same color and values and hues of the same color put under different types of lights. I just try to be consistent with it. There is really no definite answet to your question IMO |
