Braves offering Kawakami
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/p...urn=mlb-336208  The Atlanta Braves owe Kenshin Kawakami(notes) $6.67 million this season. However, MLB.com reports that the team is hoping to trade Kawakami and have the other team pick up a big chunk of that salary. Kawakami lost his first nine decisions last year and then was dumped from the rotation. The 35-year-old went down to the minors after that and only made it into three more games in the majors after June 26. According to the site, the team plans to either trade Kawakami or send him to the minors at the season's start. In his two seasons with the Braves, Kawakami has gone 8-22 with a 4.32 ERA and 164 strikeouts. His struggles have got to be tough on the guy; back in Japan, he was the Rookie of the Year in the Central League in 1998 and then the league's MVP in 2004 when he went 17-7.
