Default How much is "Too much"

Hey,

I recently got my first tattoo ever (At some tiny tattoo parlor in Bloomsburg). I'm told that it was a pretty ambitious first experience (3 hours of inking and it wraps around my arm right below the armpit) but it went great and I'm now planning out my next one.

My question is basically how much is "Too much" stuff to have going on?

Without giving it away entirely I'm going to be going for a half-sleeve (Shoulder to just above the elbow) and amongst the things I want to fit in are a statue head (the main focus of the image), a shrine with a candle burning and a death's head moth (maybe more than one).

In my mind I see this all working but you can often be blinded by what you want so I was wondering if any of you more seasoned tattoo artists/wearers could offer some opinions as to whether this is frankly too much to expect to pull off.

Thanks in advance!

Leo.

I'm having the same dilemma with the sleeve I'm starting in November with Tedder. My solution is to keep trying to ignore my worries, take the ideas to Dave, and then let him decide how they should go together, and/or if any of them need to be dropped.

trust the artist to do his job correctly. if you researched the artist and are confident in his abilities, let him do the work.

and what jay means by "Research" and this should be a basic out line of what you should look for in a Tattoo Artist.
ask these questions to yourself and your "artist" when looking

Are they Clean? and by clean i mean would you eat off the counters and floor? Where did they Learn? How long have you been Tattooing? Did They go through the health dept ect. for Licences?" some places you can get it online this is a BAD THING!!!!" Does the Health Dept Check them on a Reg? this is Requried for some but not all!

ART WISE
1. Does he or she DO ART outside of Tattooing
if not they are not an Artist they Trace damn near anything

2. Can they free hand sketch your idea in front of you or on you "this is aways big points for me" It shows the Know how to draw and they have Talent

3.Portfolio's Colors? Lines? Do you even LIKE THEM? How the work comes out!!!!! are there any healed pictures???? or Bloody messes!!!!!!

if there are very little Healed pictures they probly never came back for a reason!!! or He or She are LAZY

are there custom one of a kind pieces or Is it full of Flash "stuff on the wall" this is not a bad thing most younger guys seldom get that chance maybe you could help him blow people outta the water for the first time, Good thing about the young and Hungry they sometimes do give more effort and time into it to prove to there more seasoned peers that they can hang, and they do usally discount there just to do something other then flash.

Finding a good Artist is Hard and for the few we are out there and trust me there are even less Good Clients out there, TIP::: Don't be a PAIN IN THE ASS::: Some Including Me double the norm for hard to work with clients, and by getting Tattoo's "too Much" No such thing but some times you wish they would wash off in order to put a new idea in it's place Good Luck Kid TIP::::GET COVERED:::: And I suggest that to ALL!!!!! Cause if we ALL got COVERED you couldn't judge me, or anyone else that has Tattoo's Cause we would Finally get are revenge on the bare skins and get jobs before them hahahaha RABBIT OUT
