some conventions are not exactly the cleanest places i've been, i work on my wife at home, i have an area that's my personal art studio. as far as it being done, i treat it the same way i would working a convention, just because it's my house or a convention doesn't mean i'm any less professional about being clean and sanitary, the same rules apply regardless of where i'm working. but as far as working on clients, do it at the shop.

f@#k that guy. If the clients like his work and want some of it, it's one thing. But to skeeze on everyone else's clients is nonsense. Doesn't he have any of his own???Why would he take clients home??? The money, that's it. Not only would I let the artist know, but I'd let the owner know. Using a tattoo shop to hustle people to your house is wrong. People come to shops for professionalism and the way this sounds isn't very professional. There are good artists that will occasionally tattoo somewhere other than a shop, but they do so in a very proper manner. A good artist with proper practices will know what they're doing and what they need to do to make and area fitting for their job, no matter where. What I believe this thread is about is etiquette. If an artist wants to work in a shop, good. Then work there. But to take clients home is to basically say f@#k that shop. If you don't wanna work there, cool, but don't use the shop to funnel clients into your house. It's disrespectful to the shop and the other artists. If I had to deal with some d**k doing that s&!t, I'd break his f@#king hands. See how good he tattoos with that s&!t!!!!!! Bleh!!!!!!!!! ...........................burnt some frustration off with that one. hehehe.........

Yeah, this guy is tattoo scum. I would tell your other artist as well as the shop owner/manager. That's a very inappropriate thing to be doing, and then to ask you to have it done at his house so the shop doesn't know about. That's just wrong. There's 0% chance I would ever let that guy tattoo me. The fact that he has to try and steal clients tells me all I need to know about his work.

True, I dont do conventions. I just dont get why people want to tattoos at home or other peoples houses. Conventions or Benefits are cool. Why artist that want to steal clients form artist they work with are hard up if the client liked their work then they would come to them. This guy has no respect for his boss or coworkers.

I'm glad you get that and that you asked for advice on it. People around where I live would have just gone to his house simply to save a few bucks.
