nothing over eight for me either, and the reason why you need more volts for 10-12 wraps is because you have more wire to get working. i set my machines up now, the exact way i did with 12, and my volts were around 11. yes they did heat up like a b1tc4. it also depends on the quality of s&!t in your machine. one of my first machines had a chrome covered a-bar that ran around 13

Re: Talk about machine coils
Yeah, I built mine out of POS machines I got for free. They may run really high, and a little hot, but they pack ink. But the sound alone Scares some artists, I was working on my buddy eddie about a week ago in his shop and my old mentor brad stopped by and couldn't believe what he heard when he walked in. But he did like the work they did.

Re: Talk about machine coils
I use 8's for lining and smaller Mags, thats about it but I don't want to run s&!t high ass hell it makes me work too fast i guess it's mostly psychological for me to tune every Machine Regardless of wrap to run around 6-8v mentor beat s&!t in my brain thank god he knew machines in and out or I would just quit and went to nuemas LOL ha to throw a nuema jab in LOL
