I'm sure there are some folks on here that may have questions about machine coils.....I have questions about sizes and meterials, but I'd like to see someone post their own info as well, Or other ideas, maybe you can send out some of your ideas on the subject.
No other forums seem to want to have usefull knowledge, I think this one has cool friends on it that I haven't met yet.

this is'nt something that should be on an open forum, thats all we need is scratchers building machines
My theory on things are that there's tons of information on the technical aspect of tattooing is online at this point that has unfortunately been waaayyy sold out for awhile.
. You can even rarely find people who "say they want to tattoo" to have enough intiative to apply it and learn the correct way or at all.
I don't consider certain info about coils online to be a threat to the tattoo community as a whole.
The ones that want to learn that are pushing to do it are going to learn regardless. The "Skratchers" are gonna read stuff then move on and still try to tattoo with $12 dollar CAM machine and still not understand the basic mechanics of a machine (or care) and eventually put it in the drawer after they run out of useful needles. Let alone gathering the tools and materials to build a set of coils (That function well or at all, and then they still wouldn't know how to use things as a whole anyway).........Skratchers are always gonna jack off to what the best ink is to buy so their tattoos are gonna magically make themselves awesome, I don't think they care about what type of metal your using for certain applications or how to make it function.
Huck Spaulding's A-Z, Bowery Stan's "tattoo encyclopedia" (Has the info, and even pictures as to how coils work and diagrams as to how to build them) And I've yet to see a kitchen magician of any type be proud of their b1tc4in coils that they have made and used and how it made them take business from any upstanding hard working tattooers (ever). And that info has been available for over 30 years.
And if they did figure it out, they probably cared enough to spend the time and effort to create a career for themselves and hopefully have became accomplished tattoo artist's that get pissed (as well) when they have spent the time and effort to learn all that stuff and have a town full of skratchers with tattoos to fix
Spend your efforts being happy and doing artwork for your clientele that makes them happy and do the best you can everyday, You'll never loose out on nothing.

ok first off, the bigger the coil, or the more wraps, the more volts you will need to get them to work. thats why you here some artists say they run their machines at like 12-13 volts, because they are most likely using 10 or 12 wrap coils. i like 8 wraps for everything. low volts and i can have my machine hit hard or soft depending on the stroke, and my spring set up.
i wish i had something to contribute to this thread but i dont know too much about coils. although i would like to. theres just something about tattoo machines that gets me all boned up.

hahaha you said boned!! but they really are'nt that hard to understand. all it is is an electromagnet. there are lots of things that use them, like hair clippers for example.
