Default Need some advice

I left an apprenticeship about a year ago because it definitely wasn't a good apprenticeship environment. Since then, I've hopped around from several jobs and houses and no matter how much ass I kiss I haven't been able to get an apprenticeship. I was recently offered an apprenticeship in LA(I live in Kentucky) with a very good artist. I eat cheap and I'm used to living in s&!t but I'm not very comfortable with the idea of moving 2000 miles away when i only have like $200 to go off of and I can't even get a job at wal-mart but, I REALLY don't want to turn down this opportunity. Oh, no car either. Anybody got any advice? Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

Ok, Since you asked. Here's my two cents, although it may not be what you want to hear.
You're 19 with no job, no money, and no car. Harsh but that's the reality. You may be a great artist but you've got (according to your other post) no tattooing experience. I would think LA would be a tough place to get started even with some cash saved up and the prospect of a paying job.
I'd like nothing more than to say "Yeah Dude! Go for it!" but the reality is, at least in my opinion, you really need a plan before you take off. Get a local job, even one that sucks, and save up enough cash to bankroll your start in LA. You'll have a much better chance of succeeding if you have a plan rather than just showing up and hoping for the best. Big cities, especially LA, seem to eat folks up that aren't prepared for an adult dose.

Thanks. That's what my family's been saying. Mainly just wanted to hear it from someone relatively unbiased I guess. Btw, I definitely wouldn't make the move if i didn't have a job and a place to stay.

And also remember....families care more about you than anyone else!!!

I am not a tattoo artist but i fully agree.
The Hubby and I saw a lot of friends move to LA in the 80's to
go try their shot at the music industry. Some did very well but they had something to fall back on, the ones that didn't got totally eaten alive by the city like Mope Head has said!

Good luck in what ever you decide, but having a plan is the best idea!

cheer,

Bunny
