Re: What do you use to clean your machines
i did two apprenticeships and learn more on my own than they ever taught . you have to be a nerd sorta in the way of learn about new medical, inks techniques, everything . i too never used mags until a few months ago, i have learned alot from every artist i meet. i went down to atl just for the party and walked away with more advice, more tricks ect in 36 hrs than 3 yrs of any apprenticeship. i post pics on here so i can get critique and info on things no matter how how small so i can evolve as a artist .and you can tell it all in my work

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
Be careful about what you use to clean your machines, I guess there's some stuff out there that will corrode the metal.
Sani-cloth. Or Zep Spririt II is what I use.

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
madacide will rust steel and iron machines haven't noticed anything on brass/bronze frames but your a-bar, screws, coil cores etc will all be affected by madacide.
I spray generously, let sit for about 10 min then wipe it and let it air dry. I also pull my machines apart at least once every 2 months for a thorough cleaning/going over and re-tuning

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
discide is great stuff...the problem with madacide is unless you are letting it sit for 10 minutes before wiping then chances are it is useless....discide kills pathogens in one minute vs. ten minutes!!!

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
the 10 min wait sucks, the time allows it to corrode the machine and lengthens the time between tattoos, ( i normally use it to smoke a cigarette haha) i'll have to give discide a try

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
I use to spray my machines down with Cavicide then wait and wipe. I had four separate back springs break on four separate machines during a single tattoo. They were all corroded from the Cavicide. Gowd I looked like an idiot on that one ha ha.
Needless to say I use my dogs’ magic saliva to clean my machines now.

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
i had my rear spring break on me during a tattoo, not a fun experience and scary for both me and the client, i'm re-examining what to use now but i'll still use madacide or cavicide for surfaces

Re: What do you use to clean your machines
apprenticeships give you the right to tattoo. they don't teach you how.
you can watch and learn for 20,000 hours if you want, your first tattoo is still gonna suck.
during mine, i learned about machines, and then i didn't even ask my mentors and i started tattooing myself and buddies. balls out.
