I'm trying to save a pitbull named Ella.

She's on borrowed time, but she's been there before.
She was scheduled to be put down as a pup in a county shelter, but she has a small pink birthmark on her nose. I'm told when she was a pup that it was in the perfect shape of a heart.
It saved her life!
They couldn't put her down.
They couldn't kill her.
They couldn't push the needle in.
I'd be happy to give you her life story if you'd like a long read.
Long story short, Ella has developed dog aggression and the rescue I volunteer with can't abide by that and feel the only responsible choice relative to our community is to put her down rather than place her and potentially cost two dogs their lives.
But lots the volunteers (myself included) believe in the underdog. So here I am. We had a behaviorist look at Ella and she said the following:
Quote:
She is a great dog. With the right owner she can live a very long and happy life. With lots of counter conditioning she can do well. I will gladly work with who ever adopts her.

Other facts about her:
- She is neutered
- She is heartworm free
- She is current on all her shots
- She has shown no aggression towards people
- She loves belly rubs and is a great face licker (important to me if no one else)
- She truly believes squirrels are agents of evil (my dog concurs)
What we're trying to do for Ella:
- Find her a permanent home where she can shine (must work with behaviorist)
- Find her an experienced foster home (again, must work with behaviorist)
- Find her an experienced rescue group (get her on a wait list maybe?)
- Find anyone that can help accomplish any of the above
- Buy her more time
What we're willing to do:
- Drive her anywhere, Canada if need be for the right place for Ella to shine
- Provide behaviorist counseling for free
- Provide everything a foster needs (food, bedding, meds, etc.)
- Take in a non-aggressive non-pit dog to make room for her in a pit rescue
- Email every rescue on pbrc.net
- Bear-Hug You
Any help is appreciated.
In closing, I'd like to address two thoughts I'd likely have if I were you reading this.
1 - Why don't you take Ella? Its been discussed, but I do not live alone.
2 - What's with your rescue? Again, its a long story relative to Ella (which I'll share if you fancy another long read). They are good people that want to do the right thing by the community we live in and some now believe putting Ella down may be the responsible choice. We are not a pit rescue and how Ella came to be with us is a long story, so please be slow to judge. We all understand if Ella is put down it is because we failed her coupled with the stigmatism that curses her breed.
