I posted this on the other neuma thread but here I go again:

My partner uses both. I saw a tattoo he did on thursday and by wednesday of the next week it was almost healed up.

I Actually ran some of his neumas and they ran really smooth and soft (which is not always a good thing)
What it amazes me the most is the weight of the machine. Super light.
We even took it apart and it only has one mechanical piece that is a little wheel that looks like a gear that holds the nipple for the needle off center.
When the air blows the wheel this turns producing the nipple to move up/down. The nipple is connected to the wheel by a tiny bearing.
So simple and great.

All I can say is that it's a great tool to own if you can afford it, especially since they can be autoclaved. Me ,personally I don't see the need of switching to them, at least for now. They have some cons as well. You can't adjust the stroke, all you can do is adjust the tube to simulate stroke length.

As of now, you have a lot more flexibility in terms of tuning/ setup with coil machines.
I think the concept of neuma machines will open a lot of minds in terms of accepting aluminum as a material for conventional tattoo machines.

there is no doubt that the neumas will evolve.
I think they need a bigger body/chamber with a bigger mill to create more compression with less air flow. Therefore more flexibility maybe...?

I worked next to a guy using one of those in Lexington and I saw some good and bad points to it. The good was that, other than the compressor (an 8 gallon quiet running Husqvarna and kept behind a curtain behind the workstation) kicking on every 5 minutes or so and running for about a minute each time, it was overall quieter than any other machine I've seen. The drawback is that the machine runs the entire time you're tattooing so therefore you're running the added risk of bottoming out when you dip. I personally don't run my machine when I dip because I don't feel like running that risk. So for that simple fact I personally would avoid the neumachines. I've seen guys that run their machines during the entire course of a tattoo without bottoming out once and more power to them. I'm just talking about my feelings for them based on my personal work habits. The guy I saw using one of these had gone outside the norm and built his own compressor, thereby saving a couple hundred bucks from what he would've spent buying the set-up they had that came with the machine. So yeah, there's good and bad points but the ultimate choice is yours. Good luck!

Of course I'm biased to the electric tattoo machine
if it aint broke don't fix it!....IMO, the machine is only 1/2 the tattoo-alot of the guys pushing neuma were doing really amazing work before, with regular machines so I think it's all on who's holding the machine, not if it's air or not..Me personally-I'll be sticking with my electrics until my wrists fall off
