Help with color outlines and no outline
Hello, I'm David. I have been tattooing for about 3 years now. I obtained and finished an apprenticeship from a local artist. He was a traditional style artist, and as such, I was trained that way as well. I am wanting to branch out a little and do some color outline work and some with no outlines. I'm not sure as to how to approach this. I am not going to just try it on someone without knowing, so I was wondering if anyone had any pointers for me or just a general direction to proceed. I was thinking maybe outlining with a round shader, but am unsure as to how small I can go. My mentor doesn't really have anything I can go on. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Help with color outlines and no outline
i see threads like this all the time, like "i dont want to try it on someone"...when i started tattooing i had a SLEW of friends that would let me "try stuff out" just in trade for the prospect of a reduced rate tattoo.
my suggestion is not to look for a step by step tutorial on how to do a color outline...but make some friends that want cheap tattoos, and lower your rate on the stuff you haven't tried. Its a business invenstment if it works out for you and looks good.

Painting on canvas can help with that, or painting on paper...

Re: Help with color outlines and no outline
use the color wheel, find contrasting and complementing colors, dont use colors str8 out the bottle, when in doubt make it a shade darker, dont always tint with black, good luck.
