I'm from the UK and plan on getting tattooed in the US.

I'm just wondering what is common practice over there in the way of tipping after a tattoo?

I tip as much as I can, sometimes after I come out a couple hundred dollars for some work, I dont have a certain percentage to tip with, but I do tip what I can, and I try to bring in something for the artist(ammo, cigs, whatever)

I always try to tip my artist something. The most i ever tipped was $100 and the least was about $30. It just depended on how much money i had left over. like i know that i am doing a 4 hour session, thats prob arround $400-500, i make sure i go in with $600. if we go alittle longer than anticipated then i have some extra and usually i give half of what i have left over...

I heard at AON you can give them Goldfish crackers as a tip. Is that true? The general rule of thumb I've always been told has been to tip one hour's rate of that artist if the session is about 6 hours.
