Default E-Bay and it's fees

It's been about two years since I've used E-Bay to sell anything. The fees are nothing like I remember them. Apparently they've not only decided to charge you for listing fees. But then they charge you AGAIN once you've sold your item. I have to sell atleast 3 of my 14 items listed just to break EVEN. This is just outta hand.

Any of you guys have E-Bay alternatives to suggest? The only one I know know of is Craigslist.

Depends what you're selling really; what is it/price range. If you can with ebay get the most accurate postal pricing, and if poss job-lot things to go in little groups to save you the hassle. Always an idea to put a good reserve on it to make sure you're not let down.

A sneaky way of getting good prices is have one of your friends bid on the item just under the reserve and then it'll boost people to pay more, and if selling a quality item it shouldn't be a problem shifting it - only a suggestion though.

if you're selling "work" equipment we should see if they'll open up a classifieds on here, i'm sick of eBay, don't like paying fees to sell, don't like paying fees to list then not sell...

Im sick of ebay too. Making a lot money is not enough for them. They want it all!

There it shouldn't be any fee if your item doesn't sell. That's BS.
Craigslists worked great for me to get rid off all my old furniture btw. It cost me zero.

eBay is a damn rip off, then if you use paypal too they end up charging you a further 3% of the total price paid (including postage costs). It's no wonder finding a bargain on there has progressively become harder since people can't afford to list their stuff too low.

I'd go with your local trading post (if you have one), or just list the items for sale on forums that specialise in the area of what you're selling. (I did that for all my old video games, worked a treat because gaming nerds knew what my stuff was worth, whereas most ebayers don't).

EDIT: there used to be this cool website called sold.com.au that was lots cheaper and had a growing community. Seems ebay bought them out, typing in sold.com.au just forwards you to ebay.com.au, stinking monopoly
