Question 8 wrap shader by superior.... what's the point?

I have a question about 8 wrap machines..i recently did some work on a friend for a Raven 8 wrap that was set up by superior as a shader ? Why would you use an 8 wrap as a shadow is there something I'm missing... it was brand new, never used and ran really smooth that's why i did it.

as a matter of preference, tattoo machine rules are out the window. when there was the big color portrait hit, and everyone was using "cutback shaders" and shaders in their liner this proved that its really what your are comfortable working with. although i wouldnt recommended lining with a shader machine, you definitely can use your liner machine to shade with depending on the groupings you use. ive done entire tattoos with a loose 8 shader in a liner. outline, shade and color. cheers.
