MUGSY'S STORY!

We need to find foster care or a permanent home for a 5 year old, white
boxer/bulldog/pit mix that has been living near our feral cat colony for a
few days. It's a little complicated, but basically his "mother" died and
her daughter brought him to the Humane Society (which is right across the
street from us on Howell Mill Road). They were full, so she asked if they
would euthanize him for her. They didn't, thank goodness, but one of their
volunteers (named Doug) had to get him out of there and he is now in the
front yard of an abandoned house. Doug is feeding him but we knew that he
needed vet care immediately and couldn't bear to see him sitting out there
alone any longer. So, we took him to our vet today. He is 64 lbs of muscle
and energy! He probably didn't get much attention in his former life and
was left out in the yard to fend for himself. He just needs a loving,
attentive home and some training. Due to his lack of care, he is unneutered
and heartworm positive. BUT, our amazingly kind and wonderful vet at the
Buckhead Animal Clinic is willing to vaccinate, neuter AND proceed with
heartworm treatment free of charge!!! This is tremendously generous and
speaks volumes about how much Mugsy deserves a second chance at a truly good

Rescued from Upsonpet.com / Upson County Kill Shelter that informed me that after euthanusia, they throw the porr animals in a trash bag and take them to be insinerated. Made my blood run cold and got sick to my stomach. They informed me that if either of the animals were to die b4 their sterilize by date that I MUST take the body/bodies back to the shelter for their viewing, and when asked if Id be able to take my pets back home with me for a proper burial, the shelter manager asked me why would I want to do that when they can burn them..? People dont get it sometimes. However this manager has contact info for Rockstar and has stated he'll send pix of new pitties or pittie mixes as they come in to post for adoption. They can not be fostered, adopted only. I know as I was filling out all the required paperwork a lady called asking them to ppick up her female pittie that just birthed 2 babies, so there shoud be those pix as well. The manager also has a black and white adult female he wants to give away with required contract if anyone is interested. Almost all the animals I viewed the 23rd were up for an unsettling end on the 24th, so if you feel up to it, please visit www.upsonpets.com and they also have listings on petfinder.BTW my neighbor also rescued Sid's sister.
