Default machine questions

I hope that I am not overstepping any boundaries here, but I have some questions and figure this would be a good place to ask. I have been tattooing for about a year and a half now. I do good work, not aon quality yet, but still pull off some dope pieces. Did my apprenticeship in a biker shop, learned the main basics except for machines. When it comes to tuning them and making them run good, I am completely lost. Are there any good seminars or anything of the sort that can help with this?? My machines run, but I dont know how to fix them when they get out of whack. The way that I was shown to run the machines doesnt really seem to be cutting it because they run way too fast. I cant go over shading with color or work an area too much without tearing the skin up. Any information that you could provide me would be greatly appreciated. I'm sick of feeling held back because of my lack of knowledge. I appreciate your time and consideration on this matter.

Also, this is another, much more in depth book, which dispels a lot of the myths surrounding machines. http://www.thetattooshop.co.uk/shop/...ir-secrets.htm

Maybe I'm out of line but would anybody sell me Joey's book? I'm obsessed with machines but there's not much info I can get on my own. Btw, I don't plan on tattooing anyone.
