The scanner looks like it has washed out the colors some, I can tell by the color differential in the flowers mostly, but that's an equipment issue and has nothing to do with the art, those waxy colored pencils do that s&!t sometimes.
Line weight on some of the vine/leaves are off. For a fairly symmetrical piece you have a red highlight on the top of one wing and not the other. the scratchy red orange at the base of the Butterfly's body makes it look like an unfinished piece, I would continue with that and add some flowing blue tone background at the top of the body surrounding the antennae.
All in all, it looks great.

this is just great. this is the kind of work on paper that needs to be put in before every tom d**k and harry tries out color portraits.

That's the tip of the day. Going to try that outline everything in color first, simple things are easily missed or never thought of sometimes.

I find nothing wrong with replicating art for training. You weren't trying to pass it off as your own. No different than the Dali piece Jess did.
