Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
i have a very loyal client i have been working on for years and i did all tribal on his entire back except for a bright red cardinal bird with his feet on one of the tines of tribal..well he is a home builder and when he would take his shirt off it would do the same thing as yours and it would peel a layer of skin too...well his wife did some research and found out that it is a rare reaction to red (no the brand but the pigment itself)..what we had to do was put straight alcohol in big ink caps and tattoo over all of the red with just the alcohol..while it was healing his wife put a drawing salve on it and after the second time of doing this after it healed, it pulled all of the red out and and you could never tell it was even there at all..after it healed a second time, i went back in and black gray shaded the whole thing and it turned out perfect..i am new to this site but if need be i could get you the name of the stuff that they put on it to heal it and draw it out..let me know and i hope that this helped..

Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
sounds just like the allergic reaction to the red ink just like my mom had. Her insurance covered the laser removal of the red parts. The were definitely older inks, done probably 15-25 years ago, quite alot of sessions to get those older inks out of the skin. shes been going for years and you can still see them a bit.

Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
I've had red reaction before. Luckily it was just during the healing process and a month or two after. I haven't noticed it after that first month or two. It would itch like crazy and raise up. I have a piece that is done mostly in red and it was agony.

Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
I still only have it happen in the green ink on my leg. My sleeve so far has red, blue, yellow, white, and the black/blue of the outlines.

Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
a good friend of mine gets reactions to red... they heal after like a month... the funny part is that he reacts worse to eternal and not so bad with starbrite... usually its the other way around from what ive heard... but non the less he still heals fine after a while...

Re: reaction to Red or Purple ink?
I still have reactions with my green tattoo, but I have yet to have a single issue with my sleeve.
