Talking Re: Bond is overrated

Who is this f@#k-tard?

Who's made the most successful tattoo business in the industry? I don't care how he did it, but it worked! Must be doing something right! If you don't like someone, why join their messaging board?

Hell if Bond was a Smurf he's be Poppa Cap and you'd be Holy Smurf.

ha he he he he he he!

Bond overrated....I have to agree.

The scale only goes to Ten...and Bonds up in the Nineties.

The constant chatter about All Or Nothing woke me up. I was asleep for years. I tattooed like a maniac when I first started in Atlanta back in 1984. I keep my head down and busted my ass. I was covering up and reworking tattoos from shops all around the area. I never said a bad thing about any artist or shops. I built a solid reputation with my clientele and worked steady long hours from 84 to around 93. At that point I had enough clients to go private and work at my own pace on the ones I chose. My work was pretty decent for that time period and I felt that I had learned about all I could about tattooing. I didn't push the envelop because I listened to the old timers saying that stuff won't last and new bright inks won't hold long term. I quit buying tattoo magazines, quit conventions and visiting other artists and became a reclusive custom artist doing my own thing. I kept turning people away and finally some of them started telling me about this new shop in Smyrna, that I needed to check out. I actually logged on the original board and viewed some photos. What I saw woke me up. I am now having to learn all over again because these guys have run off and left most everybody behind. I won't come on here and kiss anybody's ass... I don't have to. I will say that I have heard the talk about Brandon and had to check it out for myself. What I found out is that Brandon works hard, takes care of his family, doesn't bad mouth and helps others that love the tattoo trade and see it as a lifestyle but also know that it is a business. He does a great job at running his business and you can't fault a man for being successful.

He's "overrated" and underestimated but I give him my Respect and my Respect doesn't come easy. It is earned in the old traditional way as in you are worthless until you prove yourself to the master. Brandon has surpassed several masters and could have spent more time making himself even greater yet he has chosen to help others learn and show their greatness. My hat's off to you Mr Bond and I might remind you that I am the original bald headed tattooist in Atlanta...lol

Wow, Steve...what a great post.

It seems like so many forms of art (photography, music, painting, tattoo, etc...) go through these stages where the style will get pushed rapidly beyond its conventional bounds by a group of people taking risks.

AON artists aren't the only ones doing this...but they are definitely right up there in the front of the battle charge.

It could just be me, but I think its an exciting time for the art of tattoo. The popularity of the internet has sped up the rate at which all people can exchange information...and in my mind this is a large contributing factor to the crazy leaps forward we have seen in tattoo art in the last 10 years or so.

I wonder...how far will things have gone in 50 or 100 years from now? What new styles will develop?

I hope I am around to see all of that.

Damn Steve, thats awesome man, and it means a lot especially coming from you who is in fact the first atlanta bald tattoo guy! - seriously sir, it was an honor to have you come out to the party as well, I just viewed the tape of our first meeting as there were cameras everywhere, and realized how awesome that was in a sea of blurry chaos, it was dope.

And Parabellum is also in that same tape ironically - your points above are right on the money man, it is an exciting time, the most exciting yet. When I came into this everyone always told me what a fad it was and how it was going to die down more and more, and how it was a trend and it was too commercial, and that was a decade and a half ago, now people are still claiming the exact same ideas, but I have yet to see anything but growth in this industry and its been a priviledge to be a small part of that cycle and growth. Just to witness it is exciting, but to participate in it as a client and also as an artist, has been unbelieveable.

word.
