Default Pitbulls and allergies...

Does anyone have a pitty with allergies?!

My poor little guy has them BAD and his pills don't seem to do enough for him and I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions on easing his itching...

I have a mix breed pit bull and australian sheperd and he always itches... sometimes changing his food will help alleviate the scratching...

also - the cool water will soothe the itching so washing is good and non irratating if done right - if done wrong they will itch worse after every bath

they will tell you that they hate cold water but thank you later in the evening for it... so dont listen to them.

wash only with cold water or room temp NEVER HOT WATER or even warm, as it increases irritation, inflamation and sensativity- oatmeal shampoo and oatmeal conditioner for ease in itching - maybe a half a benydryl every now and then, but we DO NOT personally do that - proper temp in washing and oatmeal sampoo will ease most of it...

I have had a BUNCH of allergic pit bull dogs - for being so "scary" and tough they sure are babies huh?

I'll have to tackle him tonight and give him a cold shower. I've got the oatmeal shampoo.

My nana read on the internet that I should dab Listerine (the gold colored one) on his itchy spots and that would help dry it up. But I can't find where she read that and I'm thinking that it might burn like a son-of-a-b1tc4 and don't know if it would actually help.

I ran out of pills yesterday (he takes prednasone or something like that) and his poor little eyes are getting red and goopy! My vet is mailing me a refill but I don't get it for several days!

Food doesn't cause his allergies to act up - changing his food doesn't help or hurt the situation. When he was just a baby we tried that and it didn't help.

My poor "little" baby is suffering and it makes me sad! He woke me up three or four times last night because he was itching soo hard my bed was shaking!

So, anyone heard the listerine thing?

And I can't put any creams on him b/c he licks them off instantly and I don't want him eating a bunch of weird s&!t like that.
