My mentor sent me home????
Lately I've been feeling like my mentor just doesn't want to teach me anything!!! He tells me to find my own information out about certain questions I ask in the shop I've been apprenticing there for about a month and still dont know s&!t, besides the questions thats answered on this forum, I feel like nobody wants me around Im getting the excuse my back body language at the shop.....I know Im the fresh meat at the shop but this is bulls&!t Im there at the shop before ANYONE is> one of the artist told me Im making them look bad WTF!!! Totally pist!!! what should I do, I understand I must weather the storm but this s&!t is ridiculous man, I'd rather him show me what to draw and give some insite on how to draw or trace things, Im not learning anything here! and on top of that i feel like nobody wants me around! Well looking for another shop preferrably in Jersey but is willing to re-locate if necessary, I just want to tattoo and represent my tattoo shop to the fulliest!!!!!! My gut is telling me this isnt what a apprenticeship is about...I dont feel like Im annoying or someone that cant mesh well with different people. I dont get it.......Tired of asking a question and never getting an answer or getting half assed responses to s&!t Im asking. Then he sends me home today becuz "I dont need you today"......WTF!?

Sorry to hear its difficult. and... its difficult. Best thing to do now might be to keep your head down, draw, work and stay out of everyone's way. If they'll let you... watch them tattoo, be a fly on the wall. It'll be difficult to shut down and withdraw while you're still there, but don't ask questions for a month and see what happens. If they start giving you information, great, if not, then have a talk with your mentor. If your mentor still won't talk to you... you may need to look elsewhere for guidance.
If you, the apprentice, are making seasoned tattoo artists "look bad" you have to ask yourself what their/your roles in the shop are... Better yet, have a talk with your mentor after you've decompressed, set the emotion aside, and studied the situation as if it were a poker game. Cold and calculating. It often takes time to suss out a situation. It certainly requires a calm certainty. Wait a week before you act on the discussion with your mentor. Good Luck!

Re: My mentor sent me home????
jack rudy told me many many moons ago if you are paying for apprenticeship you are goin about it the wrong way. knowledge should want to be shared not paid for. suck it up see what happens.....no change chuck it up as a loss and move on homie. it sucks bad in the beginning for everyone
