question on mounting a flat screen tv

that's right, not a tattoo question you freaks. i want to put my flat screen up on the wall at my new place. they actually already got the cable and outlet on the wall where the tv can be mounted(that's right i'm moving up in the world). Anyway, wondering if anyone has done this themselves and whether it is doable. Really don't want to spend the $300 to have best buy do it. I don't want the wires hid in the wall or anything. i'm gonna buy a separate post with shelves to hold my cable and blu-ray. i just want to buy a mount from best buy(found one for my type of tv...42inch panasonic) and do it myself. Is it hard, is it easy if you aren't putting wires in the wall. If i can do it myself i'd rather do that and use the $300 on some surround sound speakers.

here's a pic of my tv now, you can see the cable and outlet on the wall above.

here's another of the entire living room space, you can see the tv off to the left.

thanks....

Re: question on mounting a flat screen tv

You can buy a fixed mount at Wal-Mart for 100 dollars. There is a swiveling model for around 140 dollars if you would prefer to be able to tilt to different angles. Read on the contents list on the box, some provide a detector to find the 2x4 studs in the wall, it will come in handy. Follow the simple instructions provided and it's easy.

use a good stud finder, mine i found out is off about an inch! hha... and also make sure you dont drill into any wires (most stud finders have that option on em too). use electric tools, because i mounted a flatscreen into a wall once by hand with a socket wrench and it took an hour, if i had my power tools it would have taken 15 minutes. its pretty easy though. cheers!
