I don't watch much television, but I'd have to see one before I give my total opinion.
I do appreciate the business that tattoo shows bring in.. however, I'm hoping that if.. IF... the shows are worth a damn, with no scripted drama bullsh!t... that they actually accurately portray a bit of the hard work, dedication and SACRIFICE that some of us put into our careers.

i remember seeing the 'test show' for miami ink years ago on youtube. it was a regular street shop somewhere in the northeast. no superstars, no (outrageous manufactured) drama, just everyday life in a shop. its a shame they shiat all over the concept.

that said...these will be more of the same tired crap

yup, its all about ratings, not portraying the actual life of a dedicated artists, and all the bulls&!t that comes along with it. maybe if they showed that, more hacks would put down the machines, but i doubt it!!!

And so a whole new evolution of scratchers will be born. Because the sacred art of tattooing is no longer sacred. When I got my tattoos we did not meditate, we did not sacrifice anyone or anything. its way to mainstream and the next wave of "hacks" are on their way. Its about $$MONEY$$, ratings ect. People will get famous, people will get rich.

I hate all of these "tattoo" shows. The only one that was ever worth anything was Tattoo Wars. It was about the art,. and not the Drama.
If "Best Ink" can do the same it might be good,.. but to me it sounds like just another "The Real World".

NY INK seems to be all about Ami James , who while talented - do I want to watch weekly as he "becomes the King Of New York Tattoo" (Their words NOT MINE). On TLC no less, so I assume this was all planned as a "LA INK" type vehicle (as Kat spun off of MI) . The other show Best Ink on OXYGEN ? Excuse me ? When did OPRAH last care about ink ?
Phooey on these shows - I'm over it. I agree - Tattoo Wars at the very least showcased real lives of real WORKING tattoo shop owners . Plus, the coverage showed how they respected each other , most having either worked or apprenticed under their competition. It's why it failed, it was REAL. People watching TV want fake. Reality TV is a misnomer. Just my two cents.

London ink was pretty good... I personally don't think Ny ink is gonna last proclaiming Ami the king?? There's some SERIOUS artists out here that he's gonna be competing with. I.e. Last rights, ny adorned, ceasars, anil Gupta to name a few. And a boatload of other artists who aren't even in the spotlight and choose not to be. Nobodys gonna pay the prices he's gong to ask when they have these other astounding artists at their disposal.

anybody know what time and day these shows come on? i hate the fake drama on reality shows too...but i cant make an opinion until i watch a few episodes. help a brother out.
